Occasionally when a new version of software is installed, old shortcuts are left to the previous version of the software.  These shortcuts need to be removed, and new shortcuts need to be established.

Occasionally changes to a file are accidentally saved, overwriting an important existing file. Previous Versions allow us to review versions of file and folders from different points in time and restore those files or folders to a previous state.

Adobe Acrobat Professional and Reader have their own built-in printing protocols that bypass the Mac system settings. This creates a problem with Ricoh copiers that require a code to print--the built-in Adobe protocols bypass the Mac system settings, and the user code is not passed to the printer. This is why your access is restricted when printing pdfs, but your Word files print just fine.

This is how to print from Adobe Acrobat to a Ricoh copier. You will need to follow these steps each time you print a pdf.

In the past, we set up Outlook archives so that email could be stored on the A&S file server and free up the limited space on the Exchange server. This was an imperfect system because the archive file type (.pst) doesn't perform very well on server storage, but if we moved the file to your local desktop's C drive, it might be lost in a hard drive crash or Windows reinstall.

Office 365 introduces an online archive feature that will allow you to access your archives from anywhere and doesn't have the corruption issues that we experience with PST files. This tutorial will walk you...

Many of the Ricoh devices in A&S are restricted to only allow printing through a copy/printing code provided to each user in the department. This tutorial will take you through the steps of adding a print code on your Mac so that your print jobs will complete and set up locked (confidential) print. Locked print allows jobs to be sent securely to the printer and held there until you actually arrive at the printer to pick them up.

UKAT prefers that spam emails are forwarded to them as an attachment. This gives them the most information possible when trying to block spam and prevent phishing attacks, but the process is quite a bit more complicated than simply hitting forward.  We can use Outlook quick steps to streamline the process.

As a professor, if there is a question in one of your tests that needs to be "thrown out" (either by giving everyone points for the question or just deleting it from the test itself) this is possible!  This is true even if the test has already been submitted and graded.

Please refer to the video below on how to do so, or continue on to the written steps.

One way to improve your Bb course shell is to offer a syllabus or assignment list with links that take the student directly to the assignment, so that they do not have to always try to navigate their way through menu items, folder, subfolders, etc.

When creating an announcement in Blackboard, it is common to just copy the text from Microsoft Word. The text within Word has code attached to it that can cause major formatting issues when copied into Blackboard. Fixing/avoiding this issue is very simple and that's what we will be demonstrating in this tutorial. This method can be used for every text based function in Blackboard, not just for announcements.

APAT/UKIT suggests the following course copy settings:

IMPORTANT: (1) If the course you are copying from (the one you are in) is a course from Spring 2009 or before, DO NOT CLICK SETTINGS. This will copy in the settings from a Blackboard 8 course and could result in formatting problems....

Many of the printers in the college are secured with a user code, and if the user code is not entered correctly on the computer that is sending a print job, the print job will not complete.  Locked print allows jobs to be sent securely to the printer and held there until you actually arrive at the printer to pick them up.

One way to improve your Bb course shell is to offer a syllabus or assignment list with links that take the student directly to the assignment, so that they do not have to always try to navigate their way through menu items, folder, subfolders, etc.

A link is a shortcut to an area, a tool, or an item. Add a Link to a content area to provide quick access points to relevant materials and tools.

There are two main ways for creating a course link. We will be covering both in this tutorial.

All users

The course links on the left side of your Blackboard course, which are also known as menu items or tabs, can be turned on and off. When it is turned off, students cannot view it, and even though it is visible on your end, it does not necessarily mean that the students can view it.  Also, the Assignments tab has been turned off by default, so if you want to use that menu item, you will have to make it available.

Usually when the scroll bars are not displaying in the Grade Center, the solution is to just increase your screen resolution. On small screen devices, such as handhelds, tablets, and netbooks, the Grade Center will not function properly, no matter what.

However, sometimes if you are using Firefox on a PC, you may not see the scroll bars in the Blackboard Grade Center because the PCs scroll bar settings need to be adjusted.

The video below demostrates this tutorial for Windows 7. If you are using a different version of Windows, please follow the steps below and keep in mind...

This can often be useful when an instructor wants to change the grade of one question for everyone. To do so, follow these steps:

2.  Scroll to the column associated with test you want to grade.

3.  Click on the grey arrow beside the title of the column.

4.  From the drop down menu, select “Grade Questions.”

5.  You should be taken to a list of the questions . Scroll to the one you want to grade.

6.  To the very right is a column titled “Responses." ...
