When creating an announcement in Blackboard, it is common to just copy the text from Microsoft Word. The text within Word has code attached to it that can cause major formatting issues when copied into Blackboard. Fixing/avoiding this issue is very simple and that's what we will be demonstrating in this tutorial. This method can be used for every text based function in Blackboard, not just for announcements.

Respondus is a test generating software that is free to all UK employees. This generator is bit more complicated than the others, but it has more options. It can do multiple choice, True/False, essay, fill in the blank, multiple fill in the blank, matching, ordering, jumbled sentence, and multiple answer. You can also include feedback, or what will pop up when the student gets the answer right or wrong. The formatting needed is very similar to that needed by CSI. You need to have the letters in front of the answers.

Issues/Things to consider:

2. Individual files cannot be larger than 10MB.

3. You can zip up to 100 files into one package (instructions below).

4. Shared folder (more below): This folder is viewable to anyone with access to the Direct Submit tool through the course. Multiple instructors and Teaching Assistants can view submissions...

APAT/UKIT suggests the following course copy settings:

IMPORTANT: (1) If the course you are copying from (the one you are in) is a course from Spring 2009 or before, DO NOT CLICK SETTINGS. This will copy in the settings from a Blackboard 8 course and could result in formatting problems.

                      (2) Before Tests (deployments) and Assignments are copied over, "Grade Center Column and Settings" must be checked. The following errors will occur if "Grade Center...

Hold print is used when you want to send a print job to the printer but not have it print immediately.  This is convenient when you need to print on envelopes or letterhead and need to change the paper in the tray before you proceed with the print job.  Locked print protects the held print job with a user code so that the print job is secure.
