Pathopharmacology II For Absn Students

This course was created for the Accelerated BSN track. Pathopharmacology II addresses pathophysiological and pharmacologic concepts basic to evidence-based nursing practice. This is the third of three courses that will include pathophysiological concepts essential for understanding major health problems that occur across the life span. There is an emphasis on understanding how and why various pathophysiological signs and symptoms occur. Evidenced-based pharmacology modes of treatment of major health problems are discussed.

Advanced Concepts In Temporomandibular Disorders

This 12-month course is designed to provide graduate students and dental residents with an advanced understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and function of the masticatory system. The anatomy, epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, and management considerations for chronic complex temporomandibular disorders are emphasized. Upon completion of the course, the student should be proficient in the process of thorough assessment and treatment planning for patients with chronic complex temporomandibular disorders and their relationships with other co-morbid orofacial pain conditions.

Advanced Clinical Management Of Temporomandibular Disorders

This 12-month course is designed to reinforce the clinical and didactic knowledge established in OFP 636 and deepen the understanding and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular disorders. More complex patients with temporomandibular disorders will be diagnosed and managed by the student. In addition, this course will advance the clinical and didactic knowledge regarding how other orofacial pain disorders affect the patient's temporomandibular disorder.

Comprehensive Orofacial Pain Treatment Planning Seminar

This 12-month course is similar in structure to OFP 700, however each session is a unique experience since every session introduces different patients with different pain issues. Repeating these experiences adds greatly to the student's educational experiences. In OFP 702 the second year student is more capable of contributing to the discussion by introducing his/her experiences to the case.

Advanced Concepts In Orofacial Pain

This 12-month course is designed to provide the student with an advanced understanding of pain neurophysiology and pain pathophysiology. This course provides the student with advanced insights to chronic pain mechanism that result from central neuroplasticity. Specifically, the etiologic mechanisms of orofacial pain conditions will be discussed in detail, such as trigeminal neuralgia, persistent neuropathic pain and neuritis.

Advanced Clinical Management Of Orofacial Pain Disorders

This 12-month course is designed to provide the student with an advanced understanding of and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of chronic complex orofacial pain disorders and sleep disordered breathing disorders. Upon completion of the course, the student should be proficient in the assessment, treatment planning and treatment execution for patients with chronic complex orofacial pain disorders and sleep disordered breathing disorders.

Medical Emergencies

During this 12-month course common medical urgencies/emergencies in the dental office will be studied and appropriate management techniques will be analyzed. During this course students will develop knowledge and skills in the treatment of urgent/emergent medical problems that may occur during routine dental treatment.
