Teresa Lazzari

My name is Teresa Lazzari and I am currently in my junior year as a mathematical economics major here at the University of Kentucky, where I will graduate in May of 2017 and pursue a career as an actuary.  I was born and raised in Florence, KY where I graduated from Boone County High School class of 2013. My parents, Jim and Mary Lazzari have four children, I being the youngest.  My oldest brother, Blake is currently married to his high school sweetheart, Becky and are living in Dubai for a couple of years due to work.  My other brother, Nick is currently in Indiana working on his PGA certification at a golf course.  My sister, Gina is graduating this May from nursing school here at UK, where she will be working post-graduation. My sister and I live together down here in Lexington. I am an active member of Kappa Delta Sorority on campus, where I spend most of my time. Being in a sorority takes up a lot of my time outside of class, but I still manage to keep up personal hobbies such as running, drawing and playing with dogs.

Tech Tips From the Hive

We continue to move forward on our transition to the Office 365 mail system.  Overall, the UK migration is 11% completed, while the college is still just starting out at 3%.  All of the Hive mailboxes were migrated a few weeks ago with only minor disruptions on the morning when the transition was finalized.  We will move on to the rest of A&S soon, migrating only a few departments at a time so that we have time to help address any problems that crop up with access on mobile devices or through Outlook.

Frances Tracy-Student Spotlight

Meet France Tracy!

I’m a sophomore in Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, and I’m from Fort Thomas, Kentucky, right next to Cincinnati. I love taking adventure runs through Lexington, and visiting the Lexington Humane Society regularly because I miss my pets at home!

I chose the University of Kentucky because of the strong sense of community I felt here. I was invited to Merit Weekend, a weekend where high school seniors can schedule their freshman classes early. I spent the weekend with some friends I had from the Governor’s Scholars Program the previous summer, and we had a blast together, meeting more potential students and running around Lexington!

I work as an Undergraduate Assistant for the Mathematics Department, which includes being a UA for a math lecture as well as a few hours in the MathSkeller, a tutoring service in the basement of Whitehall. I am currently in my second semester of working for the Mathematics Department. I really enjoy it and plan on working there during the rest of my undergrad at UK!

Enrollment Management & Decision Support

What We Do

The Enrollment Management & Decision Support Team is responsible for recruitment, retention, course scheduling, graduation certification and data analysis for the college.  We find the students to put  in seats, make sure they have the right seats, provide support to help them progress, and then certify graduation.  All along the way, we provide data analysis for the dean, associate deans, and departments to make sure we are providing the best services to our students.

Who Are We?

History

I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica along with 5 other siblings.  I moved to the US to attend college where I met my husband and moved to Lexington where I’ve lived for almost 35 years! Can’t think of any other place to live other than maybe the beachfront in Jamaica!   I was blessed with two wonderful children, and am now a beaming grandma of identical twin girls!

1.         What do you like to do in your spare time?

Tech Tips from the Hive

We've received a number of requests lately asking for assistance with dealing with SPAM. It seems that there has been a recent uptick in the number of spam messages showing up in all of our inboxes (IT staff included) so it seems like this is a great topic for this installment of tech tips.

This time around we're going to combine two tech tips into one. UKAT has a method by which they prefer SPAM emails be forwarded to them which allows them to very easily block more instances and cut back on the number of possible phishing attacks on campus. We've created a tutorial that shows you how to get this information to them in the correct format. This also gives us an opportunity to show you a really quick and easy way to do this using Outlook quick steps. If you've never used Outlook quick steps they can be a really quick and easy way to automate repetitive tasks that we all do in Outlook every day. We've created a tutorial that helps you create an Outlook quick step to report SPAM to UKIT. Check out this link for the tutorial: https://www.as.uky.edu/tutorials/create-outlook-quick-step-report-spam

Here's a little introduction to the Hive Creative Team!

How we do it – Behind the Scenes

Here is a look behind the scenes at some color breakdowns and a timeline from our video team. A lot of time goes into editing video, audio and photographs, as well as beginning a new design or modifying an exisitng design. We brainstorm a lot, toss around ideas and have worked to create an open atmosphere that fosters creativity (you can see pictures of the creative space below).
