Dietetics Supervised Practice: Community Nutrition II

This course provides the second part of a supervised practice in community nutrition for students pursuing a career in dietetics. Students will build upon the experiences gained in DHN 728 and will obtain entry-level experiences by engaging in higher-level, application- based community nutrition activities at their assigned facility. The course will focus on the team concept of care and provide advanced dietetics practice with the opportunity to use evidence-based guidelines and critical thinking skills to provide programs and care to the community nutrition sector.

Intercultural And Global Learning

An examination of intercultural and global learning theories and their application to educational settings. This course helps students with teaching or other education-based career goals develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become more globally competent. The course provides opportunities for in-depth cross-national study of cultures and an introduction to teaching for cultural responsiveness and global competency.

History And Systems Of Psychology

The History and Systems of Psychology course is designed to introduce students to major historical figures and historically important systems within the academic discipline of psychology. In addition, this course attempts to place psychology within the context of history, assumptions about knowledge, and perspectives on human behavior (i.e., worldviews). This context will help us to examine the antecedents and development of psychology as a science and come to a systematic understanding of the various perspectives in psychology.

Endodontic Therapy Lectures

This course is designed for first year residents entering the Advanced Specialty Program in Endodontics. It will consist of a series of presentations on clinical endodontic topics in order to familiarize the students with clinical endodontic procedures prior to the "Endodontic Classic Topic Literature Seminars" on these specific clinical topics.

Introduction To Advanced Endodontics - Laboratory Course

This course is designed to teach the entering first year endodontic postgraduate residents to perform technical procedures required for clinical endodontic patient care. Demonstrations and laboratory exercises will be utilized. Each resident will be expected to attain a high degree of competency on the laboratory projects prior to entering the clinical portion of the postgraduate program. This course should be completed within the first five (5) weeks of the program.

Endodontic Textbook Seminar

This course is a sixteen (16) week seminar in which major textbooks in the specialty of endodontics will be reviewed by the residents and discussions will be facilitated by division faculty members. This course will be given every year to first year residents to ensure they are reviewing the most current textbooks available.

Graduate Endodontics Research Project I

This 12-month course will assist the student in the preparation and initial steps towards the completion of a graduate research project by the end of second year of the graduate program. Students receive structured research training within the Core Curriculum (CDS 660) during the fall semester of the first year. END 716 is designed to apply research methodology taught in CDS 660 within an open-structured course to guide the student in the initiation and progress of their chosen research topic which will be completed during the following course END 717.

Endodontic Literature Seminar I

This 12-month course teaches the fundamentals of critically reviewing scientific literature pertaining to endodontics and/or associated disciplines. This course will provide a review of current and historical journal literature that pertains to the scientific basis for endodontic procedures, materials and techniques currently being used in the clinical practice of endodontics. Students will discuss and critically evaluate the content of the reviewed literature. Updating the literature review course is extremely important if one is to keep up with the latest changes in endodontics.

Endodontic Literature Seminar II

This 12-month course continues to build on the formative skills learned in the first year END 735 course to bring the student to mastery levels of critical review of the scientific literature. This course will provide a more comprehensive and deeper review of current and historical journal literature that pertains to the scientific basis for endodontic procedures, materials and techniques currently being used in the clinical practice of endodontics.
