This course allows students to explore the majors and careers associated with a degree in Communication, Information Communication Technology, Integrated Strategic Communication, Journalism, and Media Arts and Studies. Students will develop a written, spoken, and digital professional persona, communication strategies, and professional skills to prepare to be competitive in internships and on the job market upon graduation.

This course examines a specialized topic or topics within the Cooperative Extension Service. May be repeated to a maximum of nine credits under different subtitles.

NS/CNU 607 Students will develop their professional skills in the areas of communication, negotiation, career preparation and advancement, teamwork, and leadership.

In this class, students explore the wide variety of careers and professional settings where people with training in public health work. Through guest lectures and discussions with professionals in the field, students gain exposure to the roles and responsibilities of those who work in nonprofit, for-profit, and governmental public health; health care; health care administration; and other related fields. As part of this course, students will assess their own interests, skills, and personality to explore and describe their career goals and strategically plan for a career in this area.

This course serves as one of two culminating courses for the Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) degree and brings together two key applications of public health knowledge: Practicing public health in organizational settings and communicating as a public health professional. In this course, students complete an experiential learning activity in order to gain a practical understanding of public health organizations, broadly defined.

This course teaches the theories and practice of administration as they are applied in public health settings. It addresses knowledge and applications of the functions of public health management and their relationship to organizational effectiveness.

This course covers the computational principles and techniques that are used to solve sequential decision-making problems from a Computer Science perspective. The focus of this class is on formulating sequential decision-making problems as well as on the fundamental algorithms, mathematical models, and programming techniques used to solve them. Topics include: Multi-armed bandit problems, adversarial decision-making, Monte-Carlo tree search, and reinforcement learning.

This course is designed to help new LCE students successfully navigate through their college and learn what the major is about. This course will help students to become active and collaborative learners and critical thinkers. In addition, students will engage in debating/discussing social, personal and professional issues that enrich their college and program experience.

Students taking this course will examine the concept of "community education" within international and domestic contexts. More specifically, students will analyze historic and contemporary theories, skills and applications within the field.

This course is designed to help LCE students answer the questions: What will I do with my life after graduation? and How do I make the transition into a career? To answer these questions, students will visit multiple field experience sites, analyze activities and components of the field experience, analyze the professional field, and develop a post-graduation transition plan.
