Professional preparation of Rehabilitation Counselors or Special Education Teachers, including practice in delivering lectures, conducting class discussions, leading seminars, directing independent studies, guiding student research projects, demonstrating instructional methods and materials, supervising rehabilitation counselors or special education student teachers, and advising. Laboratory, three-nine hours. May be repeated to a maximum of nine credits.

This course will examine gender, class and minority issues in the media. The course offers a critical framework for analysis of socio-cultural issues pertaining to women, ethnic groups, disabled persons, and others, and of their presentation in the media.

An introduction to the history and philosophy of physical education. An emphasis will be on: (1) the role of philosophy, educational philosophy, and the philosophy of physical education and (2) the major historical influences in the development of existing physical education programs in the United States.
