Statistics Department to be Named for Alum, Generous Donor

University of Kentucky faculty member Connie Wood accepted a collect call in 1989 from a student a world away who was in need of a connection and a path forward.

For Bing Zhang, the willingness of a director of Graduate Studies to accept that phone call and offer help in a time of need has made all the difference in a life’s work and, now, what has been a lifetime of giving back.

Indep Work: Art History

Supervised and sustained individual research in the history of art leading to the discovery and demonstration of new knowledge. A formal learning contract between student and supervising faculty member required. May be repeated to a maximum of six credits.

The Age Of Jim Crow, 1880-1930

This course focuses on the causes, progression, completion and perfection of the color caste system popularly known as Jim Crow during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The course will examine the national and Southern milieu in which Jim Crow was born and justified as well as the impact of the system on the black community according to class and socio-economic status.

Developmental Anatomy

Human development is presented through lectures, visual aids, and occasional laboratory demonstrations in conjunction with laboratory exercise in ANA 511. The course deals entirely with intrauterine develop- ment, and includes some discussion of common abnormalities.
