Hamilton discusses new initiatives that the K Crew Coordinators are working on as well as the personal and professional benefits of being a K Crew Coordinator and A&S Ambassador.
On November 19th, 2010, the Council Forum on Haiti Reconstruction took place at the University of Kentucky. Everett McCorvey is the director of the UK Opera and a major player in the process of creating the Haitian Harmony Children's Choir. This initiative will bring communities together and share the stories of earthquake survivors through musical performance.
In his presentation, “Reconstructing Haiti: The American Contribution”, Russell Porter, the deputy coordinator and soon to be director of the USAID Taskforce, discusses the US government’s response to the earthquake which struck Haiti on January 12th, 2010 and to its most recent cholera epidemic.

On November 19th, 2010, the Council Forum on Haiti Reconstruction took place. In a collaborative presentation, Dr. Samuel Matheny, the Nicholas J. Pisacano Professor and Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine, and Dr. Israel (a graduate student form the College of Public Health) discussed the situation in Haiti and how the University can help.

Happy Perkins is a graduate from the University of Kentucky. He serves as vice president of General Electric and is general council for GE Energy, which works to develop energy technologies, including wind power. His time at UK helped him gear up for law school and his career path ahead.

Holly Miller, a graduate student in the Department of Psychology, has recently received a lot of press for her research, which uses dogs as experiment subjects to test the effects of glucose on self-control. Miller's research addresses the physiological reasons for failures in self-control, but her conclusions are not just useful to understanding dog psychology, since expending glucose affects all mammals, including humans.
