Clin Oral Diagnosis I

This course consists of two components: 1) examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning for patients assigned to dental students in general clinics; and 2) an emergency clinic assignment in which the students will diagnose and treat patients with acute oral problems. Clinic, 30 hours.

Mgmt Of Medically Compromised Den Patint

This course will provide students with the knowledge required to manage medically compromised patients in the outpatient dental office. Basic clinicopathological information about commonly occurring medical disorders, the impact medications that these patients take have, the special problems they have, and their effects on dental health care will be presented. Critical thinking is encouraged so that the students can use their diagnostic skills in the appropriate manner to identify and manage patients with systemic disorders. Lecture, 43 hours; laboratory, 4 hours.

Clin Oral Diagnosis II

This course is a continuation of ODM 821 and consists of several components: 1) examination, diagnosis and treatment planning for patients assigned to dental students in general clinics; 2) emergency clinic assignments in which the students will diagnose and treat patients with acute oral problems in the Urgent Care Clinic, 3) a rotation in the Diagnosis, Wellness & Prevention clinic, and 4) quizzes and competencies.

Clin Oral Diagnosis III

This course is a continuation of ODM 831 and also consists of two components: (1) examination, diagnosis and treatment planning for patients assigned to dental students in general clinics; and (2) emergency clinic assignments in which the students will diagnose and treat patients with acute oral problems. Clinic, 40 hours.

Currnt Concepts In Temporom&ib Disorders

This 12-month course is designed to provide graduate students and dental residents with a basic understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and function of the masticatory system. The anatomy, epidemiology, etiology, diagnosis, and management considerations of temporomandibular disorders are emphasized. Upon completion of the course, the student should be knowledgeable in the process of assessment and treatment planning for patients with common temporomandibular disorders.

Cli Mgmt Of Temporom&ibular Disord

This 12-month course is designed to provide graduate students with a foundational understanding and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of temporomandibular disorders. This course will provide basic clinical knowledge and experiences in the assessment, treatment planning and treatment execution for patients with various temporomandibular disorders.

Orofacial Pain Treatment Planning Sem

The purpose of this 12-month course is to expose the student to a wide variety of orofacial pain problems, to identify and discuss important aspects of history taking and examinations and to critically assess the need for additional information. Each student will present his/her new patient seen that morning to fellow students, orofacial pain faculty and psychology faculty. The student will formally present the detail findings in the case and defend a treatment strategy. The student will learn to provide alternative treatment options.

Current Concepts In Orofacial Pain

This 12-month course is designed to provide the student with an understanding of basic pain neurophysiology and pain pathophysiology. This course provides the student with basic neurofunction of the peripheral and autonomic nervous system and how these systems influence the human pain experience. Central neuromechanisms and neuroplasticity are presented on the cellular level and the clinical significance is related to understanding masticatory and non-masticatory orofacial pain. The etiology and differential diagnosis of head and neck pain is emphasized.

Clinical Management Of Orofacial Pain

This 12-month course is designed to provide student with a basic understanding of and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of common orofacial pain disorders and sleep disordered breathing disorders. Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to identify and assess common orofacial pain disorders and present a treatment plan to the attending clinician. The student should also be able to assess common sleep disorders and present treatment suggestions to the attending clinician.
