A service- or community-based experience which includes faculty supervision, reading, and reflection throughout the experience. May be done independently or as a small group. May be repeated to a maximum of 12 credits. A service learning project proposal must be agreed to by the student(s) and faculty mentor and must be approved by the Lewis Honors College.
Seminars for investigations of selected topics in historic preservation. May be repeated to a maximum of nine credits under different subtitles.
Surveys the history of roadside architecture in the United States, with emphasis on mimetic or programmatic architecture and the role of roadside architecture in national and global trends.
Internship providing practical experience in historic preservation. Internships qualifying for academic credit may be undertaken with a government agency, a non-profit organization, or a private-sector firm, depending on the student's interests and professional goals. Internships may take place domestically or abroad. Internships require the approval of the Department Chair, who will develop a plan of study in collaboration with the student and host organization. May be repeated for a maximum of six credits.
Half-time to full-time work on master's project. May be repeated for a maximum of six semesters.
