Blossoms of Fire
"Blossoms of Fire" is a film that celebrates the extraordinary lives of the Isthmus Zapotecs of southern Oaxaca, Mexico, whose strong work ethic and fierce independent streak rooted in their culture, have resulted not only in powerful women but also in the region's progressive politics and their unusual tolerance of alternative gender roles. The film will be introduced and discussed by Francie Chassen-Lopez, a professor of History and Gender & Women's Studies at UK.

Esta comunidad es conocida por su ética laboral y su independencia cultural, lo cual ha conllevado a una increíble tolerancia hacia las mujeres y los roles de éstas en la comunidad. Este grupo tambíen es conocido por sus políticas progresivas y el papel que ésta ha tenido en el desarrollo de la comunidad. La película será introducida y dirigida por Francie Chassen-Lopez, profesora del departamento de Gender & Women's Studies en UK.
