Biology Post-Doctoral Researcher Oliver Voecking Receives Knights Templar Eye Foundation Career-Starter Grant

Oliver Voecking, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences, recently received a Knights Templar Eye Foundation Career-Starter Grant for his retinal research with zebrafish. The Knights Templar presented Voecking with a check on the University of Kentucky campus in April 2019. 

Psychology Professor Suzanne Segerstrom Receives Excellent Undergraduate Research Mentor Award

The University of Kentucky recently honored Marilyn Campbell and Suzanne Segerstrom for their dedication to mentoring with the Excellent Undergraduate Research Mentor Award during the 13th annual Showcase of Undergraduate Scholars.

Communication And Sport

This course is designed to explore in depth the relationship between communication and sport. We will examine theories of communication and their connection to sport. The class will examine the relationship between sport and race, gender, class, violence, community, and society along how communication influences how we interact and engage them.

Obesity And Food Insecurity Paradigm

This course will explore the pathophysiology of obesity, including genetic determinants, prenatal and early life influences, and epigenetics. Students will examine the influence of environmental, socio-economic, public policy, dietary, and physical activity factors as they relate to overweight and obesity in the United States. Interventions to treat obesity, including pharmaceutical, surgical, lifestyle, and environmental options, will be discussed.
