(June 8, 2022) — David Weisrock, professor and chair of the Biology Department in the University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences, has received one of the the 2022 Excellent Undergraduate Research Mentor Award. The award recognizes exceptional leadership and support of student researchers.

Teaching Artistry For School-Based Prgm

By giving students both the understanding and skills necessary to create engaging artistic experiences, AAD 560: Teaching Artistry for School- based Programs provides students preparation for reaching out to people and communities of diverse backgrounds. Participants will learn the essential skills, strategies, and processes of teaching artistry and arts education for arts organizations. Building from a historical perspective, students will practice teaching artistry by learning how to "open up works of art" and create interactive performances and art exhibits.

Woman In Contemp Society

An examination of the development of modern American women through the life span. The course emphasizes how female biology and socialization, as well as demographic, political and economic forces, help to create important differences in female development from that of males. Consideration is given to uniquely female events such as menstruation, pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood, and menopause.

Working With Parents

Principles, techniques, and resources relevant to working with parents as individuals, couples, and families. Survey of related literature on parent effectiveness and parent education is included with relevant field experiences. Lecture, two hours; laboratory, two hours.

Ag And Environmental Ethics

This course illuminates the major moral considerations of public policy issues concerning agriculture and the environment. The course will provide an overview of major moral theories, as well as opportunities to apply these theories to critical analysis of the major contemporary moral issues associated with agriculture and the environment.
