First-Year Elective, Family Medicine

With the advice and approval of his or her faculty adviser, the first- year student may choose approved electives offered by the Department of Family & Community Medicine. The intent is to provide the student an opportunity for exploration and study in an area which supplements and/or complements required course work in the first-year curriculum. Pass-fail only.

Second-Year Elective Family And Community Medicine

With the advice and approval of his or her faculty adviser, the second- year student may choose approved electives offered by the Department of Family and Community Medicine. The intent is to provide the student an opportunity for exploration and study in an area which supplements and/or complements required course work in the second-year curriculum. Pass-fail only. Prereq: Admission to second-year medical curriculum and approval of adviser.

Acting Internship: Family Medicine

As part of the fourth-year course offerings in the College of Medicine, this primary acting internship is designed to provide students with an advanced level of direct patient care responsibility, greater than that required during a third-year clerkship or fourth-year elective. During this course, the student will assume direct responsibility for management of patient care, and with the appropriate oversight of supervising physicians, assume the responsibilities of a first-year intern.

Acting Internship: Outpatient Family Medicine

As part of the fourth-year course offerings in the College of Medicine, this secondary acting internship is designed to provide students with an advanced level of direct patient care responsibility, greater than that required during a third-year clerkship or fourth-year elective. During this course, the student will assume direct responsibility for management of patient care, and with the appropriate oversight of supervising physicians, assume the responsibilities of a first-year intern. .

Elective: Sports Medicine

With the advice and approval of the Third and Fourth Year Curriculum and Student Progress Committee, the fourth-year student may choose approved electives offered by the various departments in the College of Medicine. The intent is to provide the student an opportunity to develop his fund of knowledge and clinical competence.

Acting Internship: Rural Family Medicine

As part of the fourth-year course offerings in the College of Medicine, this secondary acting internship is designed to provide students with an advanced level of direct patient care responsibility, greater than that required during a third-year clerkship or fourth-year elective. During this course, the student will assume direct responsibility for management of patient care, and with the appropriate oversight of supervising physicians, assume the responsibilities of a first-year intern.
