Elective: Gi In Bowling Green

The clinical elective is a four-week rotation that allows the student to obtain in-depth exposure to gastroenterology with an expert preceptor(s) at a regional hospital. The student will experience the day-to-day activities of this specialty in the hospital and outpatient setting. Students participate in workups, evaluation and management of patients with a wide variety of liver, pancreatic and intestinal diseases. For many patients, endoscopic observation permits the close correlation of clinical manifestations with the underlying pathologic state.

The student will experience the day-to-day activities of this specialty in the outpatient setting to understand the fundamentals of the practice, the clinical examination, and the use of ancillary lab tests in the identification, investigation, and management of patients with pulmonary disease.
