Introduction To Specialty Pharmacy Practice

Specialty pharmacy is a relatively new and rapidly evolving area of pharmacy practice. As more specialty medications come to market and their utilization expands, it is important that students are familiar with various aspects of specialty pharmacy practice. Additionally, specialty pharmacy touches on many diverse areas of pharmacy practice and as a result this course will expose students to a variety of practice specialties, including infectious diseases, hematology and oncology, autoimmune diseases, and many more.

Ambulatory Care Practice

This course is an advanced pharmacy practice experience (APPE) focused on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases in patients receiving care in an ambulatory setting. Emphasis is placed on choosing rational drug therapy, providing contemporary patient care services and functioning as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team. Experiences may include on call and evening/weekend responsibilities. Repeatable up to 24 credit hours; allows multiple bookings per semester.
