Nursing Clinical Practice Capstone

This course was created for the RN to BSN Track. Registered nurses should not enroll in NUR 413 Synthesis of Clinical Knowledge for Nursing Practice; registered nurses should enroll in NUR 463. NUR 463 is a capstone graduation course designed for RN students working toward completion of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The course provides the opportunity to apply principles of patient safety, quality improvement, interprofessional teamwork, informatics, leadership, and evidence-based research to nursing practice in a variety of settings.

Nursing Leadership In Health Care

Students use theories of leadership, motivation, power, influence, and relationships to evaluate current practices and initiate future practices within health care, educational, and research organizations. Shared visions, advocacy, relationships and change management are addressed. Students study the change process in health related organizations by critically analyzing demographics, cultural influences, and current trends that affect practice, education, and research.

Quality And Safety In Nrsg & Healthcare

This course provides the foundation to improve health outcomes for patient populations. National strategies, theories and methods to improve health outcomes will be explored. Emphasis will be placed on the systematic analysis of systems of care to promote safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care. Students will learn how to optimize the translation of evidence into clinical practice to enhance quality and safety. Students will gain knowledge to lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives in health care systems.

Best Practices In Nursing Instruction: Curriculum Design And Outcome Evaluation

This course introduces students to information and content related to curriculum development, design, implementation, and evaluation in nursing education. Current trends in nursing and higher education and accreditation are discussed. Students will learn basic principles/guidelines for: (a) developing course assignments/evaluation methods, (b) evaluating learning outcomes, (c) developing examination blueprints, (d) administering and scoring exams, (e) analyzing statistical exam data, and (f) assigning grades in didactic and clinical courses.

Dissertation Residency Credit

Residency credit for dissertation research after the qualifying examination. Students may register for this course in the semester of the qualifying examination. A minimum of two semesters are required as well as continuous enrollment (Fall and Spring) until the dissertation is completed and defended.
