A&S Holiday Trivia

The Arts and Sciences Staff Council will be hosting its own Holiday Trivia 2020 style via an online link. Complete the trivia quiz the last week before the break Thursday December 10th - Friday December 18th. Questions range from holiday music, movies, food, treats, traditions, etc. Winners will be announced Friday December 18th and will be featured on the A&S Staff council Instagram page! Be on the lookout for the link emailed out on the 14th! 

There are twenty questions ranging from holiday music to history to food. You will have until December 17th at 5pm to answer the questions and on December 18th we will announce the winners.  Only the first attempt will count. The winner will receive a homemade Bundt cake by our own Catherine Brereton. You can choose from Peppermint Chocolate Mocha, Gingerbread and Pear, Eggnog, or Citrus Spiced Fruit.

'Behind the Blue': Addressing Underrepresented Minorities in Research Programs With Mark Prendergast

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 30, 2020) — Coming from a large family in Nebraska, Mark Prendergast grew up with a desire to help others.

Prendergast, the director of the Neuroscience Bachelor of Science degree program in the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences, has used that desire to find demonstrative ways to increase the number of students of color in the neuroscience field.

Noted Scholar of Mexican History Named Otis A. Singletary Endowed Chair in Humanities

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Francie Chassen-López, professor of history in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky, has been named the Otis A. Singletary Endowed Chair in Humanities.

The professorship is named after Otis A. Singletary, a historian and the eighth president of UK, serving from 1969 to 1987.
