Independent Work In Educational Leadership

This course provides students with an opportunity to engage in research and inquiry, which is a critical component of the university's strategic plan. Students will work independently under the guidance of a faculty advisor, allowing them to develop critical thinking skills and gain depth and perspective on emerging research and topics related to leadership in community education and human learning major. Through this independent work, students will also develop effective communication skills and learn about decision-making and ethics related to leadership in the field.

Topical Seminar In Leadership For Community Education: Subtitle Required

EDL 495: Topical Seminar in Leadership for Community Education will enable the undergraduate program to embed new topics and current trends into the curriculum, keeping it fresh and exciting for students. This will help to attract new students to the undergraduate program or certificate by showcasing the program's commitment to staying up-to-date with emerging trends and issues related to leadership in community education and human learning.

Physiological Psychology For Applied Psychology Professionals

This class introduces the structural and functional characteristics of the human nervous system and the biological aspects of behavior. The course aims to examine the relationship between the brain and behavior. Topics range from basic brain structures and behaviors to complex functions, including trauma, addiction, and psychiatric illnesses. The course also guides students in considering how they can professionally communicate complex physiological information to non-expert audiences.

Practicum In Schl Psych

Supervised experience in the application of psychoeducational diagnostic assessment, intervention, and consultation services in a clinic, school, or community setting. Requires three hours of on-site activities per credit hour and weekly supervision meetings. May be repeated to a maximum of 18 credits.

Student Teaching In Special Education And Elementary Education Settings

Supervised student teaching in a general education elementary classroom and in middle and high school settings with students with learning and behavior disorders utilizing contemporary curricula, assessments, methods, and materials designed for use with gen ed elementary students and children exhibiting learning and behavior disorders. Student teachers are required to demonstrate attainment of the identified performance standards by the university supervisor and the supervising classroom teacher throughout the student teaching placement.
