Instruction in a variety of motor skills activities. The courses are designed for students who already possess intermediate skill in the activity. Instructors will assess skill at start of course. Up to six hours credit may be earned in service courses; however, the same activity may not be repeated for credit. Assignment of specific titles will occur internally in the department. The primary goal of the course is to equip the student with the skills necessary to effectively teach gymnastics and tumbling skills in the schools. Students will learn safety procedures, skill sequencing, and progressions that are recommended for students in pre-school through middle school. Students will learn to analyze skills and prepare appropriate lesson plans. Laboratory, six hours per week for one- half semester or three laboratory hours per week per semester.
