UK Physics & Astronomy, and the MacAdam Student Observatory, present Kentucky SkyTalk

This series of popular-level talks brings the wonder of scientific discovery to the central Kentucky Community. Some of UK’s leading researchers explain, in ways that are understandable to the general public, aspects of the world around us. Topics include how stars make energy, how we can measure what stars are made of, and how stars are formed. All talks are on the second Thursday of the month and are in the Chemistry-Physics Building. They are free and open to the public. Weather permitting, the talks will be followed by viewing at the University’s MacAdam Student Observatory.

UK's first day of Fall Classes is August 24th, 2011.

Dr. Francie Chassen-Lopez (chair, Department of History, University of Kentucky), will moderate a discussion with panelists Dr. Ana Liberato (Assistant professor of Sociology, University of Kentucky), Dr. Cristina Alcalde (Assistant Professor of Gender and Women's Studies), and Andres Cruz (editor of La Voz de Kentucky) on topics of globalization, immigration, and migration.
