In this course, students will learn about several optical techniques that can be applied to the study of disease and specifically, cancer as well as how research methods can be applied in this context. Laboratory exercises are included to give hands-on experience with technology- specific laboratory skills. Throughout the course, students will complete critiques of the research methods, results and conclusions of peer-reviewed journal articles relating to the application of optical methods.

Professional Seminar In Rehabilitation And Health Sciences: Grant Writing

The purpose of the Professional Seminar: Grant Writing is to expose the student to the process and product of grant writing. Students will become aware of the agencies and foundations that support research, training, and special projects related to the rehabilitation sciences, the disciplines of communication disorders, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, athletic training and health services research. Students will prepare a grant proposal written to their agency of choice.

Capstone Seminar For International Studies Majors (Subtitle Required)

In this capstone seminar students have to write a 20-25 page research paper. Each seminar has a subtitle of a broad theme to allow students working in different world areas and thematic concentrations to work on their projects. The class works both as a seminar where students learn different theoretical and methodological approaches to a broad topic and as a space where they learn to write their own research paper. Students will be required to present their paper in a power point presentation or another type of creative project.
