Teaching Experience In Career & Tech Edu

Planned and supervised practicum in teaching, extension, governmental agencies, etc. Requires the integration of observation skills, development and use of objectives, using instructional strategies, developing effective interpersonal skills, using appropriate communication skills, developing a portfolio, selecting instructional materials, and evaluating instruction. Regularly scheduled seminars included as integral part of course. May be repeated to a maximum of 12 credits.

Foundations Of Fcs

An advanced study of the family and consumer sciences 16 areas of core competencies, including a survey of theories used within family and consumer sciences, providing students with a knowledge of theoretical bases for family and consumer sciences program development. Conceptual frameworks and theoretical approaches are introduced and applied.

Diverse Families In Culturally Sensitive

This course will focus on cultural diversity in American children and families with a specific focus on the intersection of culture, ethnicity with different family stressors, and how they relate to Kentucky children and families. Implications will be considered for designing and implementing culturally sensitive educational and community programs targeting families facing various stressors.

Indep Work In Family & Consumer Science

This course is designed as an intensive independent scholarship or training in family and consumer sciences geared to individual needs, interest, aptitudes, and desired outcomes. Students are provided the opportunity to gain or enhance family and consumer sciences knowledge and to explore an area of interest related to family and consumer science research or the delivery and/or administration of family and consumer science programming. A specific topic in family and consumer sciences related to the student's interests and program needs is selectd for intensive study.

Personal Investing & Financial Planning

An overview of financial planning, decision making and investing activities. Emphasis is on financial assets such as stocks, bonds, options and futures and their use in meeting investment goals. Discusses IRAs, 401(k)s and other retirement programs. Also considers mutual funds, real estate, insurance and other alternatives. Includes a discussion of asset selection and allocation strategies, risk management methods, and alternative wealth maximization strategies.
