The purpose of this course is to further develop teacher candidates' knowledge and understanding of the reading foundations (including multiple concepts about print, alphabetic principles, sense of story, phonological awareness) and word recognition components (phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, context, structural analysis) related to emergent literacy and children's success in reading, writing, and spelling.

Working with children in a variety of diverse learning environments is the basic component of the course. Two eight-week placements; one in grades K-3 and one in intermediate (grades 4-5) are completed. The purpose of this course, which is required for those wishing to student teach overseas, is to help participants examine theories and practices related to intercultural understanding and to develop strategies to teach with a global perspective.

A course covering the basic studies helpful to teachers of English composition at the secondary level. Focuses on the teaching of grammar, punctuation, usage, etc., and on theme planning, correction, and revision. Students are required to do quite a bit of writing. Provides ENG Major Elective credit and ENG minor credit.
