Patient Evaluation And Management

The PAS 656 course is a continuation of PAS 650. The purpose of this course is to provide students with the hands-on skills needed to practice as a Physician Assistant. Throughout the course students will continue to practice physical exam skills and develop clinical assessment, treatment, and management skills through various modalities. During the course initial training in diagnostic and treatment skills and procedures commonly used in primary care will be learned.

Clinical Lab Procedures

This course is designed to provide a foundation in diseases and disorders seen in primary care. This course covers common laboratory and radiological procedures performed in the primary care setting and their clinical interpretation. Students will also be asked to decipher/ interpret lab information in the context of a variety of clinical case studies. Emphasis is placed on, obtaining a knowledge base of laboratory tests and radiologic imaging to aid in forming an adequate differential diagnosis. Whenever possible, topics are synchronized to other courses to reinforce learning.

Clin Lecture Series II

PAS 658 course is a two-part clinical lecture series designed to cover the essentials of diagnosis and management of diseases and disorders commonly seen in general medicine. The course includes instruction of clinical medicine covering all organ systems. Emphasis is placed on identifying the etiology, clinical presentation, laboratory and imaging abnormalities, management, clinical therapeutics/intervention as well as prevention and patient education aspects of select diseases/disorders. Students work to develop skills in clinical reasoning and critical thinking throughout the term.

PAS 658 course is a two-part clinical lecture series designed to cover the essentials of diagnosis and management of diseases and disorders commonly seen in general medicine. The course includes instruction of clinical medicine covering all organ systems. Family Med Clerkship

This is an eight-week clinical course designed to provide physician assistant students with experience in evaluation and treating common problems encountered in Family medicine. Experience is provided at the level of a primary care physician assistant, and emphasis is placed on performing a history and physical exam, selecting and interpreting laboratory exams, establishing a logical differential diagnosis, evaluating evidence based medicine, performing selected studies, and establishing a tentative treatment and management plan.
