This begins by identifying, describing, and analyzing inequalities within and among American communities and then considering the implications for organizational and community processes. The essential questions that will guide this course are: How do we define, measure, and evaluate the differences among communities? What factors contribute to the emergence and persistence of the inequalities among communities?

Advanced Methods Of Teaching

This course will address the four themes of the conceptual framework for the UK professional education unit: research, reflection, learning, and leading. Students will be given the opportunity to apply research-based frameworks in making decisions as a teacher. Reflection will also be integrated into student's learning opportunities through written reflections after micro-teachings.

Research Design

This course is an introduction to research design/methodology in social science research. The course emphasizes conceptualizing and working with the various components of a research inquiry and in particular how these components work together and strengthen the overall research design. Research methods will be discussed as one aspect of research design primarily through reading research reports and through presentations by faculty and students who will discuss this aspect of their research within the context of their overall research project.
