Sefora Rodriguez

Hello! My name is Sefora, and I am an international student from Brazil majoring in Neuroscience on the pre-med track. I am currently a senior at the University of Kentucky, where I am actively involved in several campus organizations, including NEUrocats, BRASA (Brazilian Student Association), and MedLife. In addition, I work as an Event Supervisor with Campus Recreation and serve as a Resident Advisor.

During my first year, I gained valuable experience through research, and I am excited to return this summer and throughout the next academic year to continue expanding my research involvement. This past summer, I completed an observership at UK’s hospital, and in the upcoming year, I will contribute to neurosurgery research focused on cerebrovascular diseases and advancing neuroprotective therapies for acute ischemic stroke.

Looking ahead, I aspire to attend medical school and pursue a career in neurosurgery. The challenges and complexities of the brain fascinate me, and I am motivated to contribute to innovations that improve patient care and outcomes in this field.

Beyond academics, I enjoy dancing, watching movies, and exploring TV shows as a way to relax and recharge.

I chose the University of Kentucky because of the incredible opportunities it provides and the strong sense of community and school spirit that makes it feel like home. I am deeply passionate about neuroscience because the brain remains one of the most fascinating and mysterious frontiers of science, with so much yet to be discovered.
