Karmen Parker
Hi! My name is Karmen Parker. I am second year student apart of the Lewis Honors College and UK BLUE (3+3). I am a Political Science major, on the pre-law track. My legal interest is in healthcare compliance and policy. I was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Although all of my roots are in Louisville, making the transition over to the University of Kentucky was a no brainer. Once I finally took the step to visit UK, Lexington immediately felt like a home away from home. Stepping foot on campus, I immediately felt a part of a well-knit kind community, which solidified my chose in becoming a Wildcat.
I have a special interest in research and currently serve as a SPARKler with the Center for Health, Engagement, and Transformation. With this research opportunity, I am able to explore my interest of spreading equality, equity, and justice in healthcare spaces. My current research focus with SPARK investigates the environmental influences on tobacco products use among youth. Outside of my academics, I am the Director of Operations of the Black Pre-Law Association where I am able to connect with other UK students interested in a legal career. In addition, I am the founder and President of the Women's Pre-Law Association. UK's Women's Pre-Law Association looks to empower and uplift women pursuing careers in the legal field and I suggest anyone who is interested to join and have fun!
