Hey, y’all,

My name is Jon Luke Owens, and I am a junior from the small town of Alexander City, AL. I am majoring in Foreign Language and International Economics with a focus in Russian Studies on the Pre-Law track. In addition to being a returning Arts & Sciences ambassador, I also have a job working as the Director of Staff Engagement for the University of Kentucky’s First Year Experience team, as well as a Tour Guide for the University's Visitor Center and as the Director of Campus Life for the University's Student Activities Board. I also spend time with a campus ministry known as Reformed University Fellowship and I am a proud member of the Russian club. When I am not studying, I enjoy examining films and finding new records. I came to UK as a transfer student, as I fell in love with this great institution and this great commonwealth through the spirit of its people. I wanted to move away in a place where I could grow as a person and as a student. I could not be happier here. My favorite part of UK is its student body, as the warmth and kindness of the bright individuals who go here provide for a fulfilling college experience. In terms of career goals, I plan to attend law school, but my options vary across several fields. I simply hope to enter a career field that I find satisfying, and I believe this university gives me the resources to do just that.
