Joyua K. Brown (Jacobs)

Greetings, students! I am very excited to be an Academic Advisor in the College of Arts and Sciences. My passion is inspiring and motivating students to explore their own purpose and passions in life. I enjoy seeing my students bloom and follow their own dreams.

My higher education profession began after graduating from college at Kentucky State University, where I had the experience of working as a Recruitment Retention Counselor for the Child Development degree program. Moving forward with my career in higher education, I had the opportunity to work as a TRIO Student Support Services Counselor and Recruitment, where I worked with amazing first-generation students. I also have experience working with Student Engagement and Campus Life as one of the HBCU Royal Court Advisors. I organized and advised various organizations at my previous university. I enjoyed organizing student programs and coordinating special events.

Outside of the office, I enjoy relaxing and going on family vacations. I was the co-author of the book "I Tasted My Tears Today!" that was published in 2017, so I enjoy writing and sharing my own life journey in hopes that it inspires others. I will leave you with this quote: "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." by Marianne Williamson.
