Donovan Mathews

Hello! My name is Donovan Mathews, and I am from Cincinnati, Ohio. I am currently a junior here at UK pursuing a dual degree in Political Science and Law and Justice on the pre-law track, while also minoring in Economics. After my four years of undergraduate studies, I plan to go to law school and become a practicing attorney in either corporate law, civil rights law, or whatever catches my eye during law school!

This past summer, I served as a legal intern within the Hamilton County Court of Common Pleas. In this role, I observed court proceedings, analyzed legal arguments presented by counsel, and gained practical exposure to civil and criminal litigation.  As of right now, I am interning in DC through the WilDCats at the Capitol Program for the fall semester at a legal aid organization. On campus, I currently serve as a Student Ambassador for the College of Arts and Sciences, as well as the Chair of external relations for the Black Pre-Law Student Association. Outside of academics, you may catch me on campus at the Johnson Center or Alumni Gym, as I have a passion for sports and exercise. I also enjoy binge watching my favorite shows and movies whenever I have free time.  

I chose the University of Kentucky because of the welcoming community here.
