Biology
minor in Neuroscience
Pre-medicine track

Hello! My name is Annointing Ogbewekon and I am a junior majoring in Biology and minoring in Microbiology. I am also on the Pre-med track with the aim of specialising in neurosurgery. I am originally from Benin City Nigeria but I moved to Nairobi Kenya with my family when I was in elementary school. I then moved to Lexington Kentucky in August 2023 as an international student.

In addition to being a college of Arts and Science ambassador, I am involved in colorectal cancer research at the Hinds lab. I am currently investigating the effect of liver metabolites on colorectal cancer progression. In addition to this, I am the secretary to the Step Up club and the founder of the Paws for Hope club here on campus. My hobbies include creative writing, knitting and boxing

I chose to study at the University of Kentucky because of how connected I felt with the campus, even when I was miles away. Applying to colleges as an international student was a hectic process but the staff at the University were there for me through every step of the way. Coming to the University of Kentucky has been a blessing and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions concerning the college of Arts and Science or life at The University of Kentucky in general.
