UK Alum Works with American Presidents to Archive History

A UK graduate has spent most of his professional life helping archive history for various presidents. In fact, Alan Lowe is currently archiving the history of former President George W. Bush.

UK Student Goes Several Extra Miles For Internship

Hannah Simms is a junior at UK, majoring in international studies and political science with a minor in Chinese studies, as well as a member of the UK Honors Program. This past summer Simms spent three months in China, the bulk of which she devoted to working an internship with Lexmark's Shenzhen branch.

Celebrate A&S: 2012 Hall of Fame Inductee Jim Duff

 

 

Jim Duff graduated magna cum laude from the UK Honors Program in 1975, and holds B.A. degrees in both political science and philosophy. While at UK, Duff earned a Phi Beta Kappa membership and was a “walk on” for the University of Kentucky Men’s basketball team.

From 1996-2000, Duff served as counselor William H. Rehnquist and was appointed as the director of the U.S. court system by Chief Justice John Roberts in 2006, where he oversaw the federal judiciary's 35,000 employees and its $7 billion annual budget. Last year, Duff was named the president and CEO of the Newseum, an interactive museum that educates the public about the importance of the First Amendment in innovative ways to inspire an engaged citizenry.

 

 

No Middle Man

After graduating from UK in the spring of 2011, James Chapman wasted no time in getting started on his career path. A dual Political Science and International Studies major at UK, Chapman continued doubling up on his studies in graduate school: he is now pursuing a joint law degree and Middle East policy master's degree at George Washington University.
