Freshman Psychology Major Skates to Senior Title at Collegiate Championships

Farah Sheikh, a first-year UK psychology major, won the senior ladies title at the annual U.S. Figure Skating Collegiate Championships earlier this fall in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Transatlantic Scholarship: Mary Kate Elliott

During the summer of 2013, UK Junior Mary Kate Elliott joined seven other students from around the United States in a month-long Fulbright summer program in England called the Fulbright Nottingham-Trent University Summer Institute. Elliott is working on a double major in English and French, with a minor in Dance. In this podcast, Elliott talks about the Fulbright program and what she has brought back from abroad.

Cultivating Fellowship: Pearl James & Katie Cross of Sigma Tau Delta

The University of Kentucky chapter of Sigma Tau Delta—an honor society for students majoring in English—has a lot on its plate. While not entirely new to campus, it has returned to UK with a renewed focus on cultivating fellowship between English majors while also expanding the reach of the department and its students into the Lexington community.
 
At its helm is English Professor Pearl James and student President Katie Cross. In this podcast, they discuss Sigma Tau Delta’s renewed role at UK, highlight the importance of community, and talk about how they hope to put their own UK-stamp on the organization.

Algebra, Crosswords and Tetris: Neville Fogarty

Just because Neville Fogarty is working on an advanced degree doesn't keep him from following diverse interests. In addition to being a grad student in the Department of Mathematics, he plays Ultimate Frisbee, writes crossword puzzles, and participated in the Tetris tournament last semester. In this podcast, he shares some of his hobbies and explains why he chose to come to the University of Kentucky.
