In this course, we examine the causes and consequences of the agricultural revolution from various theoretical perspectives. Case studies on the origins of agricultural will be discussed as the research has developed at major "hearths" of domestication, including the Fertile Crescent (southwest Asia), Yangtze River and Huang He basins (China), sub-Saharan Africa, Central Mexico, northern South America, and eastern North America.
