"A hands-on three credit course that introduces students to quantitative investigations using R, an open source statistics package widely used in the social sciences that operates on multiple platforms, allowing students to better understand their data through elegantly summarization, analysis and visualization. Students will use R to (1) visualize and explore data sets and (2) automate and document core statistical tasks such as calculating descriptive measures and carrying out hypothesis tests. This course is an R and social- science-specific complement to the existing statistics curriculum in the College and will be of most benefit to students who have already taken a course in quantitative methods or statistics for the social sciences."
