The course is designed to prepare traditional BSN students for psychiatric/mental health through didactic and clinical experiences. Emphasis will be placed on key concepts and skills including, quality and safety, mental health assessment, teaching-learning, therapeutic communication, multidisciplinary interventions, patient advocacy, and client-centered care across the lifespan in a variety of mental health settings. This course will focus on clinical judgement skills including cue recognition and analysis, prioritizing and evaluating hypotheses.
