Prereq: Admission to DNP Program; NUR 960 or NUR 955. Coreq: NUR 956, 957, 961 or 962.
This clinical experience focuses on comprehensive patient assessment, diagnosis and management of health problems commonly seen in primary care. Emphasis will be placed on differentiating signs and symptoms to formulate possible diagnoses and determining the effect of the illness on the family. Students will demonstrate competence in assessing, diagnosing, managing and evaluating selected health problems based on appropriate standards of care. Health promotion and disease prevention strategies will be emphasized. In addition, the primary care nurse practitioner's role as a collaborative member of the health care team will be evaluated. Course requires 12 hours per week clinical.
