Best Practices In Nursing Education: Art And Science Of Teaching

This course is designed to assist graduate nursing students to teach in educational institutions or healthcare agencies. Using a variety of learning theories, teaching strategies, and educational models applicable to nursing, students will learn how to develop a course syllabus and to plan and design a course in addition to appropriate learning activities to meet course student learning outcomes. Students will begin to develop competencies necessary to be an effective nurse educator. Students will use active learning techniques when teaching in a classroom or online setting, will learn best practices for teaching students in clinical settings, and will learn the most effective methods to assess student performance. The legal aspects of teaching in nursing will be addressed along with use of multimedia and strategies for active engagement of students in the learning process.
