ENVIRONMENTAL RESTORATION: The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park is a beautiful setting to enrich lives through art and nature. With that, Newfields has a vision of restoring the 100 acre site using Indiana native plants. The internship in the Art & Nature focuses heavily on land management tasks such as invasive removal, native plant reestablishment and general property maintenance. These tasks are essential in the restoration efforts of the IMA. Secondly, there will be opportunities to engage with guests of all ages including in learning atmospheres. There will be outdoor themed classes run by IMA instructors that will utilize our expertise to teach children. The intern for the ANP will be a resource in that area. Of course, any lesson plans, big ideas, and overall structure will be decided by class instructor and ANP manager. Other duties such as database maintenance, plant recording, or educational tool development may be assigned depending on availability.
