This is a survey course designed to cover the entire field of federal antidiscrimination law. Topics to be covered may include employment discrimination (primarily focusing on race, sex, age, and disability issues and possibly affirmative action); housing discrimination (primarily focusing on race, disability, and family issues); other disability discrimination issues under the Americans with Disabilities Act; discrimination in public accommodations and government programs; voting rights litigation issues involving proof (e.g., how cases based on direct evidence of intent, circumstantial evidence of intent, and disparate impact differ from one another), special defenses, and remedies; and a brief survey of the more important questions that arise in Section 1983 litigation.
