This course provide an overview of the techniques of counseling and how they can be applied in a Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling context. The course also allow you to acquire knowledge about theoretical orientations and to develop skill in integrating theory with counseling practice. Emphasis will be on helping students clarity beliefs, values, and personal style, and connecting those to the beliefs and values of the various theories; and identifying commonalities across theories as these relate to clinical rehabilitation and mental health counseling. We will also focus on helping to recognize culture, class, and gender component.
