This course aims to present to future dentists the biologic foundation of periodontal diseases and conditions. As well as to introduce students to the current techniques for the diagnostic evaluation of the periodontium, non-surgical treatment techniques of existing diseases of the periodontium as well as the prevention of said diseases. It also aims to present to future dentists the rationale, design, and outcomes of the Periodontal Treatment. A final objective is to present to students how periodontics integrates to other dental specialties in the setting of the comprehensive dental care.
