Location: Distance Learning-Hybrid course. Meets in person on several selected dates on UK main campus: 08/24 (Week 1), 09/07 (Week 3), 09/28 (Week 6), 10/19 (Week 9), and 11/16 (Week 13). Class will be held at Coldstream Research Campus at 1648 McGrathiana Parkway, Lexington, KY 40511 in the Training Resource Center (TRC) Conference Room C. Nestled in a social justice framework, this course examines various models/frameworks for conceptualizing, implementing, and analyzing contemporary social welfare policy. Several typologies of welfare states and associated policy implications are examined and critiqued. This course prepares learners to be actively engaged and involved in policy making processes that impact, and are impacted by, social welfare systems.
