While emphasizing the critical analyses of social policies and policy making processes, this course critically examines the history of the social welfare system, services, and programs. An important focus of this course is to identify and understand the impact of a wide range of social policies on social work clients and human service delivery systems within a social justice framework. Analytic frameworks with regard to social welfare policies and services are presented and course content reflects the interdisciplinary efforts of the social, political, legal, economic, and administrative processes which are vital to policy making at all levels.
