Paris has long been a love for photographers. The history of photography and Paris dates back to the very beginning of image capture with the work of Louis Daguerre and Joseph Niepce, the fathers of photography. In this class we will explore the city following the paths of legends like Bresson, Atgetand Brassai.Students will also examine the work of more contemporary French artists such as Sophie Calle, Elliott Erwittand JR, while learning about the evolution of drawing with light, in the city of light. This course requires prior approval for registration. All students must apply and be accepted through the Office of Education Abroad into UK- Sponsored Travel Program: The Paris Art Adventure: Cityscapes in Light and Sound. Organized thematically around various critical frameworks, this course exposes students to diverse photographic practices across culture and time.
