Prereq: Primary Degree/Primary major: NURS-BSN. NUR 222, NUR 223, NUR 224, NUR 225, and NUR 226, with a C or higher in each. Co-reqs: NUR 227 and NUR 228.
This course is designed to prepare traditional BSN students to provide professional nursing care for women and their families throughout the lifespan. The focus is on women's health, complicated and uncomplicated labor and delivery, postpartum, neonatal periods via didactic, lab, and clinical experiences. This course will advance clinical judgement skills including cue recognition and analysis in the obstetric client and the development of hypotheses to generate solutions to take action. Content related to obstetric quality and safety, teaching-learning, therapeutic communication, interprofessional collaboration, and culturally competent nursing care will be developed to generate the best possible evidence- based client-centered care solutions.
