The choice of ionization method depends on the properties of the sample.

  • EI-DIP: Direct Insertion Probe Sampling

Sample mixture injected into the GC is separated into components. Spectra are acquired about once per second. Electron Impact ionization produces molecular ions and/or fragment ions.


EI-DIP: Direct Insertion Probe Sampling

Sample introduction by Direct Insertion Probe (DIP), with EI ionization; evaporation profile (top) and spectrum (bottom). Sample is volatilized from a heatable probe directly into the mass spectrometer. Spectra are acquired about once per second.
