Kalliney and Trask Honored with Named Professorships

(Sept. 5, 2014) — Two University of Kentucky English faculty members have been honored with named professorships in the UK College of Arts and Sciences.

Peter KallineyPeter Kalliney was named the William J. Tuggle Professor in English. The appointment is for five years and will be renewable at the discretion of the college dean on June 30, 2019. The professorship carries annual additional salary of $15,000 and an additional $10,000 research allowance.

Michael Trask has been named the Guy M. Davenport Professor in English. The appointment is for five years and will be renewable at the discretion of the college dean on June 30, 2019. The professorship carries annual additional salary of $15,000 and an additional $10,000 research allowance.

Michael TraskKalliney, who is also the associate chair of the Department of English, specializes in 20th century British literature, postcolonial literature, literary theory and globalization, and cultural studies. He is currently writing a book about the Cold War and decolonization, emphasizing African, British and Caribbean literature.

Trask’s research interests include 21st century American literature and culture with a special interest in women’s literature and gender studies. Although he is most interested in 20th and 21stcentury American literature, he also teaches classes in 19th century British literature. He is currently writing about post-1970 social trends in literature.
